Welcome to Ipswich West Special School.
I have been the very proud Principal of our school since 2016, and warmly welcome you to learn more about our school through our website. I also invite you to follow our school on our Facebook page. Our school is a calm and inclusive environment and caters for students with intellectual disability. Many
students have additional disabilities such as Austism Spectrum Disorder, physical impairment, hearing
impairment and vision impairment. We provide highly individualised programs for
students to develop and demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of the
Australian Curriculum as well as addressing disability-specific issues within
the areas of communication, social participation and emotional wellbeing,
health and personal care, safety and access to learning. .
Our students are provided with leadership opportunities through School Captain, Sports Captain, Cultural Captain and School Council positions in our primary and high school.
A highlight of our year celebrations include the Leadership and Year 12 badge ceremony in term 1 and the Year 6 and Year 12 Graduation ceremonies in term 4.

Our school is fully airconditioned to ensure the environment is kept at a comfortable temperature for our students to optimise their ability to learn.
We have school buses which are used to transport students to community based learning opportunities, including our Senior Secondary students to Off campus skill development programs with local businesses.
