Each classroom has access to PCs and laptops for student use. A variety of other technologies are also used in classrooms such as interactive whiteboards and iPads. These devices enable teachers to present topics of work in motivating ways and enable students to develop 21st century skills whilst promoting hands-on learning. All classrooms are connected to our wireless network. Students at the school must abide by the departments policy in relation to use of computers and internet access. The Smart Classrooms Student ICT Expectations help teachers and school administrators plan meaningful and engaging learning experiences that incorporate the use of ICTs. They aim to help students develop their ICT knowledge, understanding, ways of working and skills needed for learning and working in today's digital world.
Learning with iPads
The use of an iPad in the classroom is allowing a brand new way to deliver lessons and engage with students. iPads can be used by an individual student, a group of students or a whole classroom by connecting to the interactive whiteboard. An iPad encourages problem solving, critical thinking and information fluency. It’s easy to use, can do everything a computer can do and encourages more engaged, challenging and creative learning. If we are to prepare the children of today for a tomorrow we must ensure they are ready for this change. Each classroom has access to a set of three iPads which can be used to support student learning. In addition, each classroom also has access to a class set of iPads which can be borrowed for whole class activities.
