Ipswich Festival - 2008 Grand Champions for the Fourth Year in a Row
19 April 2008 dawned with heavy clouds but the small community of Ipswich West Special was not going to let the weather spoil their day of participating in the Ipswich Festival Parade. Everywhere you looked there was a sea of purple and green the colours of Ipswich and we were celebrating "Ipswich the Most Livable Mid sized City." The week before the students were excited with Channel 9 and the newspapers coming to see them on their preparation for the festival. This year as soon as the students arrived at the preparation area it was non stop as we were the number 3 float to go traverse the main street. We had the huge cake being towed by one of the parents, students dressed as cupcakes and others as fairies, pirates and anything you could imagine as long as it was purple and green. Once again the school excelled and for the fourth year in a row have been awarded the 'Grand Champion' entrant in the parade.
